Biden Administration Orders All Schools to Administer Assessment Tests in 2021
On February 22, 2021, the Biden Education Department decreed that states must administer federally required standardized tests this year. According to the Biden administration, “To be successful once schools have re-opened, we need to understand the impact Covid-19 has had on learning and identify what resources students need.”
Under federal law, states must administer annual Common Core aligned exams like the NWEA/MAP test. Last year, regular standardized testing was cancelled as the pandemic closed school buildings across the country.
This federal government decree means that the NWEA/MAP test will be given by CPS in 2021.
